I would actually give this book a 2.5 stars. I am very disappointed in the way this book is written. The author writes as if he is writing for 5th graders. And some of the repetitive sentence structures were annoying. “He then did this.†She then did that.†Just write “Then he did whatever.†Or try the word NEXT! Also, it’s OK to use contractions. People don’t talk like... “I did not go here.†“I thought to myself, ‘I should not do this.’â€And, OMG, the Callaway character is just a mess. He wants to do good but doesn’t but knows he should but can’t. Terribly portrayed and miserable to read about.And then the chapters alternate between Callaway and the 2 primary detectives in a way that is jumpy and difficult to follow.I got so frustrated with the poor writing style I had difficulty enjoying the story! Skimmed a lot to finish the book
Tragedy strikes the family of Dect. Gary Holt. His nephew, Isaiah is found shot three times in the car belonging to one of his coaches. There were traces of heroin in the glovebox. There were also texts from a woman friend who happened to be a call girl. How was this possible? Lee Callaway,a local PI was running low on cash. Fortunately a woman was climbing up the stairs to his office looking to hire him. When she came inside he noticed that she was blind, wearing sunglasses and using a white cane. One strange thing was she also wore gloves. She wanted him to find her sister who has been missing for three months. She handed him an envelope with $5000 in it. Strangely enough, both cases overlapped. With people disguised and using aliases, both the police and Lee had a lot of investigating to do. Ultimately each case came to a head with many crazy solutions!
Not bad for a new series. I have bought book two of this new series. I have also read all of this authors other books. He is great writer.
This book is very entertaining and with the short chapters very easy to read. The plot is imaginative and the story used to reveal the plot is interesting. This is the kind of book you wish would never end. the characters are easy to like and the story moves at a quick pace.
This is a very good read. It's easy to follow, intriguing and even comical at times. Just a very believable story
I love Thomas FIncham books, would recommend them to anyone who loves a mystery.
another excellent book from Mr. Fincham....I am always left with the feeling of "when is his next book coming out"...and thank goodness he has found his calling in being an author....
Another excellent book by Mr Fincham. I enjoyed every moment of this excellent read. When you have a good book to read all else is non existent, like sleep.
